ES1 becomes the latest broadcast partner of WPR, joining the likes of Motorsport.tv and sports branch of Maltese television network, TVM Sports.

Justin Mifsud, CEO of World Pro Racing, commented on the partnership: “This is another milestone for WPR with ES1 joining our list of partners along with ESTV our exclusive OTT partner, motorsport.tv, The Race and TVM Sport. We have been pushing sim racing on OTT and TV platforms since last year and the strength we achieved in viewership is amazing. Our viewership is spread across the world and this means more exposure to the brand and the sim racing scene in general.”

This partnership is the second deal ES1 has entered in 2021. In April, France’s first TV channel dedicated to esports inked a deal with professional football league Ligue 1 Uber Eats, becoming the official broadcaster for the 2021 eLigue 1 season.

Nicolas Gicquel, Head of Programs at ES1, also spoke on the deal: “This partnership with WPR is a perfect demonstration of how esports is getting more and more mainstream, reaching a larger audience. ES1 is really proud to be the official TV broadcaster of the World Pro Racing competitions for all the French-speaking countries who will discover these high-quality events”

Esports Insider says: Considering the huge levels of exposure sim racing continues to receive, it’s no surprise to see ES1 taking an interest in broadcasting the esport on its channel. For WPR, the deal marks another solid addition to its growing portfolio of media partners.
