Schalke are not the only esports teams paying close attention to sleeping patterns and schedules. Just a few months ago, Gravitas announced that it has partnered with Flinders University to participate in its sleep study.

The announcement video also cited that, Emma’s product is set to measure and strengthen the skills such as reaction timing, visual working memory and emotional balance.

Dr Verena Senn, Head of Sleep Research at Emma, added: “We are doing sleep tracking with the gamers to measure when they go to bed, how long they sleep and how much they turn and toss. We are using Emma’s smart bed which is the first of its kind in the market.

“The great thing about the Emma Motion is that it not only adapts to different body types but also to the position of the sleeper throughout the night. Therefore it offers optimal ergonomy and comfort, which is the basis for good sleep.”

Paying close attention to sleep and having a sleep watch is a widely-used practice in traditional sports. Without doubt sleep is one of the key factors that affect an esports players performance. It is good to see that more and more teams have started taking care of their sleep health, which will definitely elevate their quality of life and in-game performance.
