XSET announces BBBSA collaboration

Lifestyle gaming organisation XSET has announced a partnership with mentoring organisation Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA).

The goal of this collaboration is for volunteers (‘Big Brothers’ or ‘Big Sisters’) to introduce young people (‘Little Brothers’ or ‘Little Sisters’) to career opportunities in esports.

From now on, XSET’s jerseys will include BBBSA’s logo and ‘Littles’ will appear in live streaming events, social media activations, and other marketing initiatives.

For every purchase of co-branded merchandise, $5 (~£3,53) will go to BBBSA.

Marco Mereu, COO and Co-founder of XSET, commented: “XSET’s mission of diversity and inclusion aligns perfectly with BBBSA’s work. We are here to bring gaming to a new generation and want to show kids – and the world – that gaming is for all.”

According to the release, the two companies will work together on a unique, mentee recruitment campaign. They will also launch a fundraiser to support BBBSA’s work on justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) initiatives.

Adam Vasallo, Chief Marketing Officer of BBBSA added: “Mentoring opens doors of possibilities for young people, and by connecting with partners like XSET, it allows our Littles to learn first-hand about this growing industry. We also appreciate the financial support, which will allow our agencies across the country the opportunity to reach more Littles who are waiting to be matched with a Big.”

Littles will also connect with esports experts to help them get started in the gaming industry. Raidel ‘Joke’ Brito and Jordan ‘ProoFy’ Cannon are named ‘Big Ambassadors’ in Detroit, MI and New York City, where they will be offering esports-related advice.

Esports Insider says: Initiatives such as these push esports to become a mainstream career choice amongst the younger generation. Through BBBSA, XSET will have the opportunity to shape young gamers into professionals, whilst also connect with a younger audience.
