Esports Entertainment Group (EEG) has entered into a partnership with Hall of Fame Resort and Entertainment Company (HOFV) in a deal that will see EEG become the official esports supplier of the Hall of Fame Village powered by Johnson Controls.
As a result of the partnership, EEG will operate a Helix eSports facility scheduled to open in the middle of 2022.

Like other Helix eSports facilities, the new venue will host a ‘variety of esports activities’, including tournaments and practice for aspiring teams and players.
Michael Crawford, President and CEO of HOFV, spoke on the partnership in a release: “With the popularity of esports and its continued upwards trajectory, we are thrilled to partner with the highly respected EEG to offer fans a new state-of-the-art facility at the Village.
“Having an EEG-powered esports complex as part of our development on campus adds another compelling opportunity for gaming enthusiasts and guests to engage in virtual environments as well as offering us the ability to draw in fans from all over the world — both in person and virtually — providing us with strategic growth opportunities within our company’s gaming vertical.”

In May, EEG managed to secure approval of its gaming license by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, enabling the company to operate and service bettors in the State. With intentions of expanding esports betting in North America, HOFV could expand its offerings into betting and fantasy esports betting if legislators decide to legalise gambling in Ohio over the coming months.
Grant Johnson, CEO of Esports Entertainment Group, also commented: “We are excited to work with HOFV to bring esports to the Hall of Fame Village powered by Johnson Controls. This partnership places our brand in front of professional football fans globally and will place a Helix eSports center right in Canton. It also aligns extremely well with our recent strategic push into Ohio, which gained momentum in recent months through our partnership with the Cleveland Cavaliers.”
Esports Insider says: EEG joining forces with HOFV is part of its effort to expand its offerings in Ohio ahead of the potential legalisation of esports betting in the state. For HOFV, the partnership is another high-profile addition to the facilities that are on offer for consumers as it looks to expand further into the esports industry.
