WePlay Esports will provide an official Russian language broadcast for the tournament, which is said to be in line with its previous practices. WePlay Esports has previously worked as a Russian broadcaster for Flashpoint Season 3 and hosted a number of CS:GO tournaments, such as WePlay! Lock and Load and WePlay! Clutch Island.

Organised by Romanian company PGL, the Stockholm event will also be the first CS:GO Major in history to have a $2m (~£1.44m) prize pool.

Oleh Humeniuk, CEO of WePlay Esports, commented: “This is the greatest CS:GO event WePlay Esports has had the privilege of working on up to this day. I’m glad to report that our team is ready to take up a new challenge and reinvent how a premier-level esports tournament can look one more time.”

WePlay also added that the company is already working on ‘stage setups, broadcast talent outfits, augmented reality assets, set extensions, broadcast graphics, and various other elements’.

Esports Insider says: It’s good to see CS:GO back with live events, and the first Major in two years will be a sight to behold. Trusting WePlay with the event’s Russian broadcast is not surprising, especially when you consider the company’s track record to date.
