Dubai-based esports organisation Galaxy Racer has hired Danny Lopez, formerly of Guild Esports, as its new Chief Content Officer.
Lopez arrives at Galaxy Racer with a wealth of senior-level experience in esports, as well as a nomination for ‘Esports Creative Of The Year’ at the 2021 Esports Awards. He will immediately take charge of the organisation’s content strategy and brand.
Paul Roy, CEO of Galaxy Racer, commented: “Danny brings along a wealth of experience, which we recognise and value and creative talent. I’ve personally seen his content and he’s definitely one of the best in the industry.
“As Galaxy Racer pushes forward…having a creative leader to spearhead our content across the group is imperative, especially for our esports and content creators’ verticals. We look forward to having Danny on board with us.”
Lopez is also credited for playing a major role in the viral content collaboration between streamer Dr Disrespect and Astralis.
Galaxy Racer was founded in 2019 and immediately established a collection of eleven esports teams across a number of games, such as League of Legends, Dota 2, and Fortnite. The organisation has a roster of over 20 content creators, amassing over 160m followers.
This most recent appointment follows a slew of hires from Galaxy Racer. This year, the organisation has brought in former Disney Executive Guenther Hake as an Advisor and ‘Marketing Innovator of the Year’ finalist, Allan Phang, as its Chief Marketing Officer.
Lopez himself added: “After meeting with Paul, I was bought in immediately, his global aspirations for Galaxy Racer were something I wanted to be a part of. The creators that Galaxy Racer work with have unrivalled scale and this is a great opportunity for me to help drive that growth by creating best-in-class content.”
Esports Insider Says: When it comes to content creation and strategy in esports, there are few better than Lopez. As Galaxy Racer continues to grow at an exceedingly fast pace, this appointment will undoubtedly add quality to its brand and content.
