South Korean organisation T1 Entertainment & Sports has announced a partnership between T1’s DOTA2 team and NFT marketplace, Swappable.

Per an official post on the Swappable website, T1 fans will soon be able to purchase ‘exclusive digital collectibles and T1 history’. The first T1 NFT drop will be T1 genesis NFTs with ‘unique properties that give the holders exclusive rights’.

In addition to the NFT collection, Swappable’s company logo will be prominently featured on T1 team jersey sleeves as they compete at The International 10 this October in Bucharest, Romania.

The financial terms of this deal were not disclosed. Fans can sign up on the Swappable website to learn about upcoming drops as they happen.

T1 has made a number of high-profile deals in recent months, including those with Razer, and SteelSeries. The organisation also launched its own dedicated esports academy last month. Other sponsors include but are not limited to Nike, Twitch, BMW, Douyu, Samsung Odyssey, SKX 5GX, and Red Bull.

As of this posting, the Swappable deal extends only to T1’s DOTA 2 team.

Swappable holds auctions for rare artwork, both physical and in NFT form, around an event such as the FIFA World Cup. Each piece has been signed by celebrity athletes. Based on prior auctions, the T1 activation may include signed photos of team members or moments during The International 10. This is all speculative, however.

Esports Insider says: NFTs are all the rage in traditional sports and esports these days, but for good reason. These offerings give fans a financial investment in the team’s success. The better the team does, the more an NFT would be valued, for example. Plus, any T1 NFT trades or sales would benefit the org, which offers revenue throughout the year and in between tournaments.
