Christian Bishop has left UK-based esports organisation Method to join Amazon as the company’s new Director of Twitch Properties.
On Twitter, Bishop announced that as part of his role he will be responsible for the monetisation of Twitch’s brands, such as Twitch Rivals and TwitchCon, as well as helping build relationships with clients.
Bishop joined Method in 2019 following a year-long stint at independent production company Estars Studios. As Method’s Chief Revenue Officer, he was tasked with growing the company’s revenue across multiple pillars.
Via LinkedIn, Bishop shared: “Today is my first at Twitch. I am joining Amazon as the Director of Twitch Properties. My focus will be monetising our first-party properties like Twitch Rivals, Twitch Con, and Twitch Gaming.
“I’ll be working closely with our third parties as well over at The Game Awards, Esports Awards, Bandai Namco, HBCU Esports, Evo, Tekken World Tour, G2 Esports, and Team Liquid.”
Bishop joins Twitch’s parent company at an interesting time. The eCommerce company has recently secured valuable partnerships with Riot Games and BLAST. Moreover, the firm is steadily growing its presence in esports through Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports. Twitch Rivals, one of the brands Bishop will be in charge of, also recently secured a partnership with Crypto.com.
Esports Insider says: Christian Bishop is a valuable asset for Twitch, a company that has its eyes set on growth within the esports and game sector. Twitch will surely be focused on growing its Rivals and TwitchCon brands even more now that there’s a dedicated person to fuel its growth.
