Dubai-based esports organisation Galaxy Racer has appointed former Streamline Media Group Head Of Finance Syed Ibn-E-Ali as its new Chief Financial Officer for Southeast Asia.
Ali will be part of the organisation’s expansion project across Southeast Asia (SEA), focusing on the structuring of Galaxy Racer’s offices in the region, plus policy implementation and corporate governance.
Galaxy Racer aims to use Ali’s 14 years of experience in gaming companies working on partnerships, business processes and strategic growth, the company said in a release.
Galaxy Racer’s Southeast Asian CEO Mitch Esguerra expressed that the hire is “vital for us as we continue to grow in the region and build our global footprint.”
With Ali focusing on growth, strategy and finances in Southeast Asia, the organisation is reinforcing one of the key regions it operates in. Founded in 2019 and based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Galaxy Racer also runs operations in North America, Middle East North Africa (MENA), South Asia, and Europe.
The organisation has recently called attention to itself due to its fast-paced global expansion, with a particularly concerted push to grow out its South Asia and North American businesses.
In April, Galaxy Racer unveiled Pakistan’s first professional esports league and officially announced its entry into the North American market through its HER Galaxy brand in March.
Ali is the third major hire for Galaxy Racer in the last two months. In April, Alisa Jacobs was hired as as its Chief Strategy Officer in the North American market, while Upmanyu Misra was signed as the organisation’s Managing Partner.
Galaxy Racer also recently invested $25m (~£20.48m) into cryptocurrency company QUINT, integrating QUINT’s ecosystem into the organisation’s structure.
Commenting on his new role as Chief Financial Officer SEA, Syed Ibn-E-Ali said: “The continued growth of Galaxy Racer speaks for itself, and I’m so excited to join the team as the Chief Financial Officer for SEA, and help take the brand’s presence in the region to the next level.
“Entertainment especially eSports has become one of the most lucrative industries in Asia and is evolving at a tremendous pace. So it’s incredibly exciting for me to be with Galaxy Racer, at the very forefront of that growth,” said Ali.
