Multinational esports organisation Team Liquid has announced a partnership with Epic Games‘ battle royale title Fortnite.

The partnership will see both entities create artwork and apparel together, with Team Liquid players also designing a part of the collection. Additionally, the partnership will also include a custom Creative Mode map and Twitch assets designed jointly by Liquid and Epic Games.

This is the first time Team Liquid is working with Epic Games on a Fortnite-focused deal, but it is not the first time the company is diving into the world of apparel and merchandise. Liquid notably partnered with anime series Naruto Shippuden in 2021.

Limited edition merchandise drops are very popular in the esports industry, especially with North America-based brands such as FaZe Clan, 100Thieves and Team Liquid. These ‘drops’ consist of a range of items, from apparel to hardware, as showcased by the partnership between FaZe Clan and Ducky keyboards.

CBDO of Team Liquid Mike Milanov said via LinkedIn that Team Liquid is the first esports organisation to ‘explore apparel’ with Fortnite and noted that the entire project took two years.

Milanov added: “This will launch globally across three continents, includes a Creative Mode map featuring our 6 athletes and 6 horse manes in our logo with individualized mini games which will show up on Twitch across owned and operated broadcasts along with awarding scores!”
