FaZe Clan Co-founder Nordan Shat, known as FaZe Rain, is launching a cannabis venture with The Parent Company, entrepreneur and investor Yonatan Hagos, and cannabis influencer Erick Kahn.

The company, called RCVRY, will launch on September 12th in an early access event, with early adopters receiving special promotional items.

Shat is known as one of the co-founders of North American gaming and esports company FaZe Clan. He is also known for his issues with illicit substances which resulted in him being kicked out of the FaZe House in 2020. Shat was also reportedly tied to a wheelchair because of his drug usage and has struggled with mental health issues. Shat noted that the new company name is a reference to his recovery and the way cannabis helped him during that time.

The partnership between Shat and The Parent Company is somewhat new in the esports space. Although esports personalities are known for partnering with a plethora of different companies and organisations, not a lot are directly tied to the production of cannabis.

Still, it is not unfamiliar. OpTic owner Hector Rodriguez notably started his own cannabis venture called Pine Park, and North American Team Undying had a partnership with cannabis delivery company Eaze. On the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, London Esports selected Aver as its CBD partner in 2021. Still, cannabis-related partnerships are few and far between in esports.

Troy Datcher, Chief Executive Officer of The Parent Company, commented: “We are thrilled to partner with Nordan Shat, aka FaZe Rain, and the RCVRY team, who share our passion for the plant. FaZe Rain brings an immense audience, and our collaboration represents a prime opportunity to unlock the synergy between gaming and cannabis communities. “
