Mark Weller, formerly of Vexed Gaming, has joined the esports division of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team as its Esports Team Manager.

In his new role, Weller will bring his expertise to help further shape Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports Team’s programme and offerings.

Prior to joining Mercedes-AMG, Weller served as Chief Gaming Officer at Vexed Gaming for over six years. While at Vexed, Weller managed to build revenue streams, scout top talent and bring the organisation’s first championship trophy.

In 2021, Weller was also selected as Team Manager for Great Britain’s Esports team, which competed at the inaugural Singapore Global Esports Games. The next year, he reprised his role, but this time to support England’s team in the Commonwealth Games Esports Championship.

Weller also plays a significant role in the UK Esports Teams Committee (UKETC) as one of its Founding Members. As part of the UKETC, he and other members are called to act as the collective voice of UK teams in wider industry discussions and advocate for the esports and gaming sector.

Through a blog post, the newly-appointed Esports Team Manager said: “As an esports enthusiast, A formula 1 fan and as someone who truly enjoys sim-racing as a hobby, participating in league racing I am beyond excited to be in this position with such a historical, championship winning team and I cannot wait to get stuck in and help shape the esports programme here.”

The news of Weller’s appointment comes in the midst of the 2022 Formula One Esports Series, which is set to conclude on December 16th. As of writing, Mercedes sits in the third spot in the constructor standings, after Red Bull and McLaren.

All in all, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports Team has had a quiet year so far, mostly focusing on maintaining its deals with the likes of AMD, SteelSeries, New Era and Swiss luxury watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen, among others.

Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
