British Esports, a national body created to support grassroots esports in the UK, has bolstered its advisory board with six new additions.
Joining the board are Kirsty Endfield (Founder of Swipe Right PR), Camilla Maurice (MidKent College’s Senior Partnerships Manager), Becky Wright (National Student Esports’ Senior Partnerships Manager), Shoubna Naika-Taylor (Coventry College’s Curriculum Manager of Digital), Sue Lavasani (Senior Account Manager of Heaven Media) and Professor Philip Wilson (College of Esports Chair of the Board).
The new members join British Esports’ board with the aim of continuing to promote the industry in the UK and improve the country’s esports infrastructure.
As a result of the hires, the British Esports advisory board now consists of 15 members. In addition to the new hires, British Esports also announced Mark Candella and Michael O’Dell have departed from their position as advisory board members.
Created in 2016, British Esports continues to fund numerous grassroots projects including the British Esports Championships for UK schools and colleges.
In the last 12 months, the body announced plans to open the National Esports Performance Campus in Sunderland. Due to open this year, the campus looks to offer educational and coaching courses for players and other areas within the industry.
This year the United Kingdom is receiving a greater focus from the wider esports industry, with major events from League of Legends and Apex Legends being held in London.
