European esports organisation G2 Esports has released a new song called Detonate, together with Jeris Johnson and Theresa Jarvis of Yonaka.

The new single continues G2’s move into music and will serve as the organisation’s 2023 anthem, similar to last year’s single ‘Our Way’ which featured then-CEO Carlos Rodriguez. According to a release, the new G2 song is a guitar-driven track produced in-house by the organisation.

G2 Esports launched its music label in early 2022 and announced that its first single, Our Way, will be the “first of many” songs that the company plans to produce. The new single is, however, only the second song to be released via the label – and has been dubbed an ‘anthem’ for the organisation.

Similar to last year, the music video accompanying the song will feature G2’s new 2023 jersey, which was released earlier this year.

The song itself will feature TikTok creator and singer Jeris Johnson, known for his covers of popular rock songs. Theresa Jarvis from English rock band Yonaka will join Johnson on vocals. The song was developed and produced in-house by G2, along with the help of music acts ROMES, SACCO and others.

G2 has announced via a release that the organisation “plans to expand within music” soon and that it aims to provide different types of entertainment to its fans.

Another known esports organisation, Fnatic, took a different approach to music earlier last year. The organisation also announced a label, but focused on hip hop and lofi music, releasing an album called Fnatic Island in 2022.

Alban DechelotteManaging Director of G2 Esports, commented on the new song: This track is our 2023 Esports anthem. It is to celebrate all the new upcoming stories being developed by all the awesome people that we have behind G2: the fans, players, creators, and staff.

“Jeris Johnson and Yonaka are rockstars in their own right and are the perfect artists to kick off the New Year for G2.”
