North American esports organisation FaZe Clan has promoted Matt ‘BK’ Augustin to the role of Vice President of Brand and Creative Strategy.

Augustin was previously FaZe Clan’s Director of Brand & Creative Strategy for two years.

As the new Vice President, Augustin will be responsible for optimising the organisation’s brand. This includes helping identify existing opportunities for FaZe Clan’s partners, developing its creative strategy for business proposals and producing content.

Prior to his time at FaZe Clan, Augustin worked for a variety of advertising agencies which saw him work on several campaigns with brands like the NFL, Adidas and Activision. Under his tenure at the esports organisation, Augustin has helped cement and continue deals with McDonald’s, DraftKings, SteelSeries, SCUF and DoorDash, among others.

This could be the first of many changes that will occur at FaZe Clan going forward. After a short social media hiatus, the organisation tweeted on March 22nd: “We know that for too long we haven’t been the FaZe we need to be.” In the same post, FaZe Clan claimed it would be sitting down with its original members to discuss potential changes.

Despite signing major deals with Nike and Porche earlier this year, the company’s stock price continues to remain under $1, with the last time the FaZe Clan was over that threshold being February 7th. The company risks being delisted from the NASDAQ stock exchange if it fails to boost its stock price to above $1.

According to Business Insider, in February the organisation reportedly laid off approximately 20% of its staff, citing the difficult economic environment and a lack of capital. FaZe Clan will release its Q4 and annual 2022 financial results on March 30th, 2023.

Zach Katz,  FaZe Clan’s President and COO, commented on the appointment: “BK is a one-of-a-kind executive and vital asset who not only brings immense value and critical strategy to FaZe Clan, but he also brings steadfast determination and energy that permeates throughout the building everyday.

“Lee and I are thrilled to elevate him into a stronger leadership position as we continue to optimise FaZe Clan’s creative, brand and media strategy.”
