Energy drink brand Red Bull has announced a major UK Fortnite LAN event set to take place June 10th in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The event, called Red Bull Contested, will invite notable names within the Fortnite scene including 00 Nation’s Martin ‘MrSavage’ Foss Andersen, Tundra Esports’ Harry ‘Veno’ Pearson and Red Bull’s own Jaden ‘Wolfiez’ Ashman, among others.

Located at McEwan Hall, the 100-player LAN showcase will also take place in front of an audience. Alongside Red Bull Contested handing out invites, open online qualifiers for UK and EU players will be held on May 20th and 21st for ‘wild card’ spots.

The LAN event will also include a unique format compared to other competitive Fortnite tournaments. The solo format will see players compete across eight rounds, under a new points distribution system. For the final four rounds, eliminations will be worth double points in an attempt to create more aggressive gameplay.

Red Bull has revealed that the tournament will be sponsored by gaming monitor brand AGON by AOC. As Red Bull Contested’s partner, AGON by AOC will provide monitors for the event.

Whilst the international brand is primarily known for its eponymous energy drinks, and its F1 activities, Red Bull has a significant presence within the gaming and esports sector. The company is a prominent partner across Riot Games’ major leagues, such as the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) and the League of Legends ecosystem. In December, Red Bull Gaming also hosted a VALORANT off-season tournament which featured some VCT partner teams.

Red Bull player and Fortnite professional Jaden ‘Wolfiez’ Ashman commented on the news: “This event is going to be massive for Fortnite in the UK — the best players all here for a major tournament, and with a proper Red Bull twist, there hasn’t been anything like it here.”

Some of the other players competing in the event include Gamers8 2022 tournament winner Zachariah ‘Pinq’ Siddall, six-time FNCS finalist Jackson ‘Eomzo’ Fretz and FNCS Major 1: C4S1 finalist Thomas ‘Th0masHD’ Høxbro Davidsen.

The event’s prize pool has yet to be disclosed. However, tickets will go on sale April 10th with the event streamed on Red Bull’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
