Esports festival and tournament organiser DreamHack has appointed Guy Blomberg as its Events Director for the Americas region.

Blomberg joins the ESL FACEIT Group-owned brand following nearly two years at Stride PR, an agency specialising in the video game industry, as its VP of Business Development.

As Dreamhack’s Events Director for the Americas, Blomberg will oversee the brand in the region as it prepares to unveil its 2024 events slate. Its US schedule already features Dallas, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia events. In addition to organising future events, Blomberg is also planning DreamHack Atlanta from December 15th-17th.

DreamHack Atlanta is set to feature a range of esports tournaments, including the Call of Duty Mobile World Championship where teams will compete for a share of its $1m (~£801,030) prize pool. Alongside COD: Mobile, the event will feature a number of fighting game competitions and an ESL Challenger CS:GO tournament.

Blomberg has amassed a credible resume throughout his career within the video games and live events industry. Notbaly he has been a Director across events such as E3, PAX, Comic-Con and EGX. Bloomberg has been a member of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) Board of Directors for over a year.

2023 has been a busy year for DreamHack. The festival made its debut in San Diego along with hosting a Halo Invitational and IEM at its Dallas event in June 2023.

Blomberg, newly appointed Events Director for DreamHack, spoke on the role: “DreamHack is such an established and beloved brand, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to take the reins of its North American festivals.

“I’ve got an awesome team full of wild ideas to grow these events into more meaningful experiential gatherings, and I’m looking forward to doing so.”
