The UK Esports Team Committee (UKETC) has announced the addition of grassroots esports organisation The Goose House.

The commission has also provided an update on the status of the newly rebranded Carolina Royal Ravens following its move away from the UK.

The Goose House becomes the 14th member of the UKETC, which includes prominent names such as EXCEL, Fnatic and Man City Esports.

Formed in July 2021, the UKETC is a non-profit organisation that aims to support and develop the UK esports scene. Initially, the commission started with eight organisations and has since gone through various additions, removals and leadership changes. Earlier this year, UKETC members all agreed to train first aiders together with non-profit Play Aid to support player health.

One of the UKETC’s main goals is to have esports recognised at a government level. The organisation said it has been in discussions with various Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) representatives over the past 12-24 months.

Jeff Simpkins, Vice-chair of UKETC and COO of Resolve, told Esports Insider that The Goose House’s involvement in UK esports’ path-to-pro scene provides the commission with a “different perspective and unique insight to discussions” given its differing operation methods.

The Goose House is perhaps best known for its VALORANT community which has over 10,000 Discord members. The organisation competes in local VALORANT tournaments, such as this year’s Insomnia, and hosts a variety of UK-focused esports events. This includes a VCT Game Changers Contenders Qualifier for UK, Ireland & Nordics teams later this month.

Dan Ellis, CEO, The Goose House, commented on the organisation’s inclusion: “I’m excited to become a part of the UKETC. Being recognised for what we do in the UK esports landscape is a testament to our team’s dedication & hard work. I believe we bring a unique perspective to the table & the insights I anticipate from the other orgs in the UKETC will be instrumental for our growth.”

Alongside announcing the addition of The Goose House, the UKETC is seemingly looking to remove Call of Duty League franchise Royal Ravens, which relocated from London to Carolina earlier this year, from its ranks.

Simpkins issued the following statement regarding Carolina Royal Ravens: “We will be having a discussion at our next meeting regarding Royal Ravens’ continued involvement in the UKETC as they are transitioning from London to Carolina and will no longer be operating as a UK team.”
