Data and market research company Nielsen has promoted Timo Krueger to Global Head of Esports.
Krueger has more than seven years of experience in the company, having worked as the International Commercial Director for the company’s esports and gaming division over the last three years. Whilst only announced this month, the promotion itself happened at the start of the new year.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity by Nielsen,” Krueger told to Esports Insider. “We are seeing that the Industry is developing and is going through some ups and downs but the need for data is even more important in uncertain times and for this, we want to create new Solutions.”
Krueger will be looking to help and support various stakeholders in the industry, providing comprehensive data to evaluate sponsorships and support the companies’ strategies.
Nielsen is a renowned market research company, providing extensive data across all industries, including traditional sports and esports.
Last year, the company worked with esports holding company ex corp. on a report on the global competitive gaming market. The report detailed the growth of the global gaming and esports industries all over the world in 2022.
Despite the growth of the industry in the past years, companies have struggled to reach profitability, and the overall macroeconomic conditions have further amplified those challenges. Stakeholders have been discussing the so-called ‘esports winter‘, as some companies continue to downsize and explore new revenue streams.
