Game developer and publisher Mattel163 has announced the 2024 iteration of its annual UNO! Mobile Wildcard Series: Community Cup.

The tournament is open to players from Brazil and Mexico for the first time, joining existing competitors from the USA and Canada to play for a slice of its $50,000 (~£39,500) prize pool. Additionally, $10m (~£7.89m) worth of in-game rewards will also be up for grabs, per a release.

During the year, open qualifiers will take place through the UNO! Mobile app within the first 10 days of each month. The first monthly qualifier will begin March 1st and the top four winners will secure semifinal qualification. They will join other monthly winners at the in-person semifinals which will take place in July and November and are set to feature a $10,000 (~£7.89k) prize pool each.

The top 16 players from the semifinals will move on to a live final in January 2025. The final will be live streamed with viewers also able to earn in-game rewards. $30,000 (~£23,700) of the total prize pool will be won during the final, with the overall champion earning $15,000 (~£11,800).

On the announcement, Amy Huang, CEO of Mattel163, commented: “It was incredible to see the whole community come together to play, compete, and celebrate in the Community Cup last year and we’re so excited to launch this year’s tournament series with a bang!

“By opening registrations to more territories, we hope to continue providing accessible and inclusive opportunities in competitive gaming to more of our global community. UNO! Mobile is committed to connecting the world through play and we look forward to seeing who will become the next esports superstar!”

The 2024 tournament will be the second iteration of the Community Cup. 2023’s inaugural event saw its final hosted by streamer Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop. Mattel163 first dipped its toes into esports in 2022 with UNO! Mobile Wildcard Series: All-Stars; an influencer gaming event won by streamer LilyPichu.
