Multinational esports organisation Gen.G has officially announced the opening of its new building located near the company’s headquarters in Seoul.
The new facility will be mainly used for the Gen.G Global Academy (GGA), the organisation’s educational institution aimed at developing esports talent. According to a release, Gen.G is looking to provide an ‘offline experience of educating’ and solidify its efforts in fostering new talents and professionals within the esports space.
The facility will include lecture rooms, esports training centres, streaming rooms, scrimmage zones and rest areas. In particular, the scrimmage areas are equipped with ASUS gaming chairs and high-performing computers paired with keyboards from DrunkDeer and gaming mice from Pulsar. The new building is situated on a main street with several additional facilities, making it convenient for students.
Founded in 2017, Gen.G has been one of the leading global esports organisations. Notably, the organisation recently won both VCT Masters: Shanghai and the Mid-Season Invitational in VALORANT and League of Legends, respectively. Aside from these two titles, Gen.G has competitive teams across Rocket League, PUBG, PUBG Mobile and NBA2k.
Throughout the years, the esports organisation has been heavily invested in education, having established the Gen.G Global Academy across Seoul, Los Angeles and Shanghai, whilst forming partnerships with institutions such as the University of Kentucky. Recently, it launched a new student programme, ‘The Next Gen Fellowship’, designed to provide accessibility for US students looking to work in the industry.
Gen.G also boasts several strong commercial partners such as PUMA, Monster Energy, LG UltraGear, and car maker Hyundai. Last week, it extended its partnership with synthetic motor oil brand Mobil 1 for its Rocket League team.
