Gameloft, the developer and publisher of racing title Asphalt Legends Unite, has announced a collaboration with Italian automotive marque Ferrari.

As a result, the two parties will host an esports competition open to all players called the Ferrari HP Esports Asphalt Series.

The tournament is the first esports competition for Asphalt Legends Unite and will utilise its cross-platform capabilities to provide all of its players with a chance to compete. Starting from August 15th until September 11th, players can enter four qualifying rounds which feature different models of Ferrari cars.

The two fastest players from each of the four qualifying rounds will compete against each other at Ferrari Land Barcelona at PortAventura World in Salou, Spain. Players will compete for a share of €20,000 (~£17,068) in prize money alongside €5,000 (~£4,267) in Ferrari-themed prizes.

Ferrari is no stranger to the world of esports, specifically sim racing. In June 2024, the marque unveiled the return of the Ferrari HP Esports Series with a LAN final taking place in Abu Dhabi. The tournament takes place across Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione and iRacing platforms and offers amateur sim racers a chance to join its esports team.

For Gameloft, collaborating with Ferrari is the second esports initiative the developer and publisher has planned for 2024. Asphalt Legends Unite forms part of the Snapdragon Pro Series, a mobile esports circuit organised by ESL FACEIT Group. The 2024 Global Finals takes place at Gamescom on August 25th.

Camilo Polimeni, Senior Partnerships Project Manager at Gameloft Barcelona, spoke on the competition: “The Ferrari HP Esports Asphalt Series marks an important evolution for the franchise and finally brings all of our players together under a single competition thanks to the game’s cross-play support.

“Being able to partner with Ferrari for such an important event is a dream come true and not only helps us to discover the best Asphalt player in the world but also lets us put some of the most iconic Ferrari automobiles ever made into the hands of all our players.”
