With EA FC 25 early access now available and the official release date just around the corner, game publisher EA Sports has revealed plans for its FC Pro esports ecosystem.

The competitive ecosystem for EA FC 25 is set to kick off this October with registration for the open circuit already public.

According to a press release, FC Pro 25 will provide more opportunities for rising talent to earn a spot at the FC Pro World Championship. This will come in the form of an expanded FC Pro Open programme and new monthly FC Pro Open Cups.

The FC Pro Open programme will return with aspiring players and veterans competing for a total prize pool of $1m (~£750,000). The FC Pro Open season will begin with the FC Pro Open Ladder on October 1st-7th. To participate players must have reached Division 3 on Rivals, a game mode within the game, and register interest online.

If players make it through the opening round they will compete in Regional Qualifiers and then a Global Qualifier. The top 17 players will ultimately join seven players who already secured their spots last year. These include PHzin, Vejrgang, Levi de Weerd, Emre Yilmaz, xcharif, Yuval and Jafonso. This takes the FC Pro Open competition to 24 players, four higher than last year’s event.

The World Championship remains largely unchanged with 32 players competing for a $1m prize pool. However, this year the top eight from the FC Pro Open will automatically qualify for the event alongside top players from the series’ FC Pro Leagues and Play-Ins.

Sam Turkbas, Senior Director of Esports, EA SPORTS, stated: “FC Pro is back! Our second season will continue to tell the exciting stories of the best FC players in the world vying for the World Championship while building on the positive momentum from last season.

“This year, we’re prioritising expanded opportunities for players to compete at the highest level, with new pathways to the FC Pro World Championship. We’re looking forward to delivering an even more dynamic and competitive experience to showcase the best talent in EA SPORTS FC and create memorable moments on the virtual pitch.”
