Esports company GGTech Entertainment has announced Juan Diego García Squetino as its new CEO for the Americas.

According to a release, the appointment will see GGTech grow its projects and business lines. In particular, Squetino and GGTech’s American branch will focus on bringing GAMERGY events across several countries, including Mexico, Argentina and the United States, among others.

García Squetino previously worked as GGTech’s Director of Business Development and boasts a long-standing career in entertainment, gaming and esports. He previously worked for the LVP, a Spanish tournament organiser that currently operates League of Legends’ Superliga and VALORANT Spain: Rising.

Based in Spain, GGTech Entertainment is a prominent tournament organiser for amateur, semi-pro and educational esports tournaments. Some of the company’s notable projects are Europe’s Amazon University Esports and GAMERGY, one of the largest gaming event brands in Spain.

The expansion in the Americas comes after the company secured a $12.4m (~£9.75m) investment last year. Aside from setting up various GAMERGY events, the company wants to capitalise on the mature competitive collegiate scene.

According to a release, GGTech already has agreements in 27 countries across four continents, partnering up with global brands such as Riot Games, Amazon, Visa and Warner Music. In particular, GGTech signed a three-year deal with Riot Games in 2023 to bring a collegiate esports programme for VALORANT.

Juan Diego García Squetino, GGTech Entertainment Americas CEO, commented: “Being able to continue developing the American market with one of the largest companies in the world in our industry is a great challenge.

“On a personal level, I am very happy to be able to continue positioning GGTech and each of the products we manage globally from this new professional opportunity.”
