Irish esports organisation WYLDE has announced the National Esports Centre (NEC), created alongside national esports body Ireland Esports and game developer VOID Interactive.
Launching in January next year, the over 8,000 square-foot facility aims to provide competitive and educational opportunities to aspiring esports and gaming professionals.
According to WYLDE’s LinkedIn announcement, the NEC was established with several additional strategic partners, including VOID Interactive’s tactical shooter Ready or Not and gaming chair brand Noblechairs. In the same post, the esports organisation shared that additional news will be revealed soon.
Located in Cork City, the venue feature an esports bootcamp facility, a competition area, a dedicated sim-racing lounge as well as a content studio. Moreover, the NEC will host an internationally accredited education college and the WYLDE Esports Academy, which is the organisation’s esports academy powered by British telecommunication company Virgin Media.
Founded in 2021, Irish esports organisation WYLDE competes in Rainbow Six: Siege, VALORANT, Trackmania, Rocket League and EA Sports FC. In 2022, Jamaican retired sports star Usain Bolt joined the company as a Co-Owner.
Furthermore, WYLDE is partnered with Virgin Media and sportswear brand PUMA. Last year, the organisation announced national enterprise development agency, Enterprise Ireland, as a shareholder.
WYLDE has been an active driver of the Irish esports education sector in the past, having developed the first esports degree in Northern Ireland in collaboration with education college Belfast Metropolitan College (BelfastMet). Last year, the two organisations also organised a summer esports bootcamp for girls.
