NHL fans had something to celebrate last week as BetMGM officially launched Gretzky Light the Lamp, an exclusive online slot game celebrating ice hockey legend and BetMGM ambassador Wayne Gretzky.

Available exclusively on BetMGM Casino in New Jersey and Michigan, the iGaming giant is expecting further rollouts into other markets, pending regulatory approval.

Developed by multi-channel gambling games specialists Spinberry, Gretzky Light the Lamp features a 25-line, 5×3 slot game that draws upon the fast-paced nature of ice hockey, but as an enhanced online casino gaming experience.

Featuring free spins and wild respins, the game also integrates its innovative Spectacular Link and Spectacular Link Frenzy mechanics, adding an extra game-playing dimension for users.

Gretzky was full of praise at the game release launch, enthusing: “The ability to bring ‘Vegas magic’ to its players is one of the biggest reasons BetMGM is so unique. Gretzky Light the Lamp is a great combined example of my role as a BetMGM ambassador and the company’s constant innovation.”

Oliver Bartlett, VP of Gaming Product and Content at BetMGM, backed this up, stating: “Wayne Gretzky’s historic legacy in hockey makes him a wonderful ambassador for BetMGM. We are honored to create a game that showcases his likeness and brings the excitement of lighting the lamp to iGaming.”

It comes just weeks after BetMGM secured the rights to use “The Price is Right” and “Family Feud” in their online casino offerings.

Wayne Gretzky’s Unparalleled Legacy

Wayne Gretzky is undoubtedly the greatest ice hockey player of all time, having played 20 seasons in the NHL. The Canadian still leads the league in all-time goals scored, assists, and points, and held an almighty 61 NHL records at the time of his retirement from the game in 1999.

During his stellar NHL career, Gretzky also lifted the Stanley Cup four times playing for the Edmonton Oilers, before later guiding the Los Angeles Kings, St. Louis Blues, and New York Rangers to the playoffs in later spells.
