The Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC), an EMEA Regional League (ERL) for the Nordics, UK and Ireland, will host a LAN event for the finals of its 2025 Winter Split in Nottingham, England.
The lower-bracket final and grand final will take place at Confetti X on March 1st and 2nd. This marks the first-ever NLC LAN event in the UK since its inception in 2020.
Launched in 2022, Confetti X is a dedicated production centre that is part of Nottingham Trent University. The venue offers a 100-seater, 4,000 sqft space to host esports tournaments. It previously hosted competitions such as the Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports Masters 2023 Finals.
Both the lower-bracket final and grand final matches will take place from 9 AM until 3 PM GMT, with tickets going on sale starting from February 9th, at 10 AM GMT.
The last time the UK hosted an official League of Legends ERL LAN event was 2019’s UKLC series finals at Twickenham Stadium.
Rise of the NLC
Following years of declining interest in the competition, the NLC has been able to bounce back thanks to a revamped ecosystem and, most importantly, the addition of streamer-led teams such as Los Ratones. This year the NLC also secured a naming partnership with Swedish chair company Arozzi.
Led by former LEC player and now streamer Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont, alongside Carl Martin Erik ‘Rekkles‘ Larsson, Tim ‘Nemesis‘ Lipovšek, and Simon ‘Thebausffs‘ Hofverberg, Los Ratones has helped greatly increase the interest in the competition.
Paired with the involvement of other high-level professionals and influential faces in the League of Legends scene like NORD Esports and The Ruddy Sack, the NLC saw several matches surpassing the 100,000 threshold, averaging 38,000 viewers. Los Ratones has helped record the NLC’s highest viewership numbers ever, generating over 200,000 viewers in the series against Bulldog Esports, according to data platform Esports Charts.
To put it in comparison, the peak viewership by the NLC prior to this year was 14,023 viewers in 2022.
With the strong form Los Ratones has shown throughout the competition, it is likely the team will make an appearance in the final series. The team will face Bulldog Esports in the upper bracket of the NLC Winter playoffs on February 13, with the winner locking in a spot in the LAN event.
