Evo Japan 2025 is on the horizon and the registration has closed, showing a larger amount of attendees than ever before.
Evo Japan 2025 will take place from May 9th to 11th, 2025, at Tokyo Big Sight in Japan. It will feature all the largest fighting games (minus Smash), but one game has risen far above the rest in popularity with competitors.
Street Fighter 6 Has Record Number of Competitors at Evo Japan 2025
With Evo Japan 2025 just a month away, the registration has closed and the final competitor numbers have been confirmed. According to Start.gg, there are 8,648 unique attendees signed up for Evo Japan 2025, which is up from last year by a few thousand.
The most interesting part, however, is that most of the attendees are there for Street Fighter 6. Here are the numbers:

2. Tekken 8 – 960
3. Guilty Gear Strive – 676
4. Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising – 474
5. Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. 5on5 – 433
6. Street Fighter 3: Third Strike 5on5 – 363
7. King of Fighters 15 – 289
Street Fighter 6’s final count is a whopping 6,536 players, up from 2024 when it was 5,089. This is massive, considering fighting games usually use competitors as the years go on. Street Fighter 6 has proven to be a big esport in Japan, with many tournament orgnanisers hosting their events there to cater to the massive fanbase, including Capcom Cup 11.
The game with the second-most registrations is Tekken 8, another 3D fighter. Despite some updates for Season 2 that have frustrated the competitive scene, the game has seen an influx of players interested in trying out the new content. However, it doesn’t seem to have done much to boost the amount of competitive players.
The real question is, what will the numbers be like at Evo 2025 in Las Vegas later this year? According to a report from Evo, a record-breaking 10,240 competitors came from all over the world to compete at Evo 2024. With Evo Japan’s numbers rising, this could mean Evo 2025 could see a massive influx of fighters as well.
