Esports tournament organiser PGL has cemented its commitment to hosting Dota 2 events over the next four years.
Between 2025 and 2028, the organiser will host a total of 13 tournaments, each featuring a $1m (~£750,055) prize pool.
In addition to committing to Dota 2 esports for four years, PGL has unveiled a revised tournament schedule for Season 5 and Season 6 of its Wallachia tournament series. Season 5 will now take place from June 18th to 29th, 2025, while Season 6 takes place from November 4th to 16th.
For 2026, three tournaments are scheduled for March, April, and November, with 2027 and 2028 expanding to four events in March, May, October and November. Information on event locations has yet to be revealed.
According to a release, the expanded tournament roadmap for Dota 2 is part of PGL’s long-term vision for the esports competitive scene.
The tournament organiser noted: “By locking in event dates years in advance and maintaining a consistent prize pool for each tournament, PGL offers stability for teams, clarity for fans, and a reliable, competitive structure that elevates the entire ecosystem.”
Is 2025 the year of PGL?
So far, 2025 has been a hugely successful year for PGL. In addition to its Dota 2 tournaments, the organiser operates Counter-Strike events featuring some of the best teams in the world.
In February, its Cluj-Napoca Counter-Strike event recorded over half a million peak viewers.
By committing to Dota 2 esports for the next few years, PGL continues to cement itself as one of the biggest event organisers in the world.
Outside of its tournaments, PGL continues to attract new partners to support its events. February saw it secure a two-year deal with online gambling company 1xBet, resulting in the company becoming the exclusive betting partner of PGL Dota 2 and Counter-Strike events until the end of 2026.
