North American esports organisation ENVY has returned to Halo esports after a four-year absence.
The organisation has signed four North American players and will make its debut at the Halo Championship Series (HCS) event in Dallas, Texas.
In an X (formerly Twitter) post published on May 13th, 2025, ENVY unveiled that its roster consists of Jason ‘Descendant’ Morales, Spencer ‘Piggy’ Thomas, Jackson ‘Yakzn’ Johnson and Ethan ‘Precision’ Friese.
Precision is no stranger to success in arena shooter titles. Before embarking on a Halo career in 2021, he won four major Gears of War tournaments.
ENVY has a rich history of competing in Halo. The organisation was one of the first to compete in the inaugural season of the HCS in 2016, achieving victory in that year’s Pro League Fall Finals. In 2017, it finished second at the Halo World Championship.
Halo is one of several titles ENVY has entered since founder Mike ‘Hastr0’ Rufail re-acquired the brand from OpTic Gaming in January 2025. In addition to Halo, the organisation competes in Apex Legends, VALORANT, Marvel Rivals, and Super Smash Bros.
Outside of its expansion, ENVY merged with fellow esports organisation Native Gaming in March. Native Gaming has previously competed in Halo, fielding a roster from 2022 until October 2024.
The Rebuild of ENVY
The first five months have been a period of rebuilding and growth for ENVY following its return to the esports industry.
Founded in 2007, the organisation remains one of the most recognisable in North America following years of success in Call of Duty and Counter-Strike tournaments.
Following the Halo expansion, a return to Valve’s first-person shooter title could be next on the list. In April, Rufail revealed the organisation is actively looking for an opportunity to field a roster when it presents itself.
