North American esports team ENVY has won The Shroud Gauntlet, a Marvel Rivals Tournament organised by popular streamer and former esports pro Michael ‘Shroud‘ Grzesiek.
The tournament was held on the 17th May, 2025, and saw eight invited teams compete for the lion’s share of its $50,000 (~£39,000) prize pool. The event was brought to life through the combined efforts of the Fight Night group and Shroud’s management team.
Shroud promoted the winners online on May 18th, 2025, after ENVY defeated 100 Thieves in a grudge match during the grand finals.
“Congrats, ENVY [for] dominating the draft format and powering through our gauntlet!” said the streamer.
These were all the invited teams that competed in The Shroud Gauntlet:
- ENVY
- Shroud-X
- 100 Thieves
- Sentinels
- Luminosity Gaming NA
- Shikigami
- Gen.G
- FlyQUest
The stream was hosted on both Rivals Fight Night’s channels and Shroud’s own Twitch channel, lasting 16 hours. On Shroud’s channel alone, the VOD has accumulated over 660,000 views.
ENVY started strong after defeating both Sentinels and FlyQuest to progress to the upper bracket finals, where it lost to 100 Thieves 2-0. Knocked down to the lower bracket, it triumphed over Sentinels once again 2-0, and got a shot at revenge in the grand finals against 100 Thieves.
In the end, ENVY prevailed in a 3-0 sweep against the NA Invitational winners. Here is a full breakdown of the grand finals between ENVY (NV) and 100 Thieves (100T).
- Game 1 – NV 3-2 100T, Yggdrasil Path, Convoy.
- Game 2 – NV 2-1 100T, Hell’s Heaven, Domination.
- Game 3 – NV 4-3 100T, Spider-Islands, Convoy.
- End Score: NV 3-0 100T.
In the finals live stream, Andrew ‘ZP‘ Rush, commentator for The Shroud Gauntlet, said: “Look, this was a gauntlet in all senses of the word here today, the players were tested on versatility in ways it’s never been before.
“It was a long day, a lot of trials and tribulations. 100 Thieves may have dominated the upper bracket, but ENVY fought their way back through the lower bracket after being sent there by 100 Thieves. They licked their wounds, they learned their lessons, and they came back stronger.”
The main highlight commentators touched upon surrounding ENVY was how it performed in light of its recent additions. On May 14th, 2025 ENVY welcomed its latest Vanguard player Alex ‘Window‘ Ludlow – who formerly played for Shroud-X.
Before then, on May 8th, Nicholas ‘Shpeediry‘ Zou, otherwise known as ‘Speedily‘, joined the team as a Duellist and was awarded MVP during the finals.
During the finals stream, Robert ‘Hexagrams‘ Kirkbride, host for The Shroud Gauntlet, said: “You talk about organisational excellence, you talk about roster building, talent scouting. Window, maybe gets overlooked by some of the stars on this team, joined this squad officially three days ago, and Speedily joined this team 10 days ago. It’s just insanity what this ENVY team has become.
“Recently, 100 Thieves has looked great, North America as a whole has looked great. ENVY just won the finals of a $25,000 (~£18,000) grand prize tournament, and made it look pretty easy.”
