Gen.G continues its relentless march towards going undefeated in the LCK Spring group stage after a hard-fought 2–1 series win over KT Rolster to go 17-0.
The 2024 MSI champion remains the only team on track to challenge T1’s legendary 2022 Spring Split perfect group stage, a feat yet to be matched by any other team.
Fans almost doubted Gen.G today when the two organisations traded wins in the first two games of the series. However, that set the stage for an exciting game three.
In the final game, KT Rolster drafted a scaling composition featuring Yorick, Wukong, Sylas, Varus, and Renata Glasc, aiming to take control through disciplined play and strong mid-game skirmishes. However, Gen.G’s superior map control and team fight strategies denied KT the solo-picks the team needed to snowball towards a victory.
Gen.G secured most neutral objectives and turned the tables of the game, leveraging two crucial Baron fights. The last Baron sneak was followed by a clean, coordinated team fight by Gen.G to crush KT’s base defences, sealing the series win.
Now, only OKSavingsBank BRION on May 31st separates Gen.G from a flawless group stage. Gen.G currently hold a perfect record against BRION this split and will look to maintain momentum as it pushes closer to achieving a rare feat in League of Legends esports.
Patch 25.10 and Fearless Draft Sharpened Gen.G’s edge
Gen.G expertly leveraged patch 25.10’s meta changes in Game 3, taking advantage of AP item buffs that empowered Viktor’s late-game damage and maximising Skarner’s crowd control.
While the Fearless Draft format keeps demanding strategic flexibility from all teams across regions, Gen.G’s champion choices focused on scaling and reliable teamfight tools, giving the side a upper hand against KT. Though between the two Game 3 drafts, KT’s might become the more frequently viewed in pro leagues with Patch 25.11.
