NetEase has revealed that a brand new party mode is coming to Marvel Rivals called Giant-Sized Hive Mind.

The new mode will be released on May 9th, 2025, expanding upon the previous Giant-Sized Brain Blast mode while bringing back mechanics from an old favourite, Clone Rumble. Giant-Sized Hive Mind is its own game mode but players will notice similarities to the previous party modes.

The announcement was made on X by the official Marvel Rivals account on May 7th, 2025. The mode borrows elements from Season 1’s Clone Rumble event, all with a giant-head twist.

In the post online, Marvel Rivals said: “Those big brain plays just got a whole lot bigger in our Giant-Size Hive Mind game mode! Channel the power of a collective consciousness on May 9th, 2025 and embrace ultimate chaos on the battlefield to become one. Bigger plays–same mind, and double the fun!”

Giant-Size Hive Mind Gameplay Explained

Based on the trailer posted, Giant-Size Hive Mind will be a conquest mode on the map Ninomaru, Tokyo 2099. Except this time around, all members of your team can be the same hero/villain. We saw in the trailer that team comps can include six Adam Warlock’s, an entire squad of Loki’s and more!

The end goal is to eliminate more enemies than the opponent, or reach the max elimination count first before time runs out.

In Clone Rumble you voted for a particular hero you wanted the team to play, and the enemy team did the same. However, this time around, the heroes available to both sides will be chosen at random, which will help to mix up games.

As of writing, it is currently unclear if the mode will contribute towards the Brain Blast challenges, which reward an emote upon completion. We’ll just have to wait until May 9th to find out.

At the end screen, it revealed that Round 2 will be coming May 16th, 2025. This refers to the Giant-Sized leaderboards, where you can earn rewards such as Titles based on your global standings with a particular character.

Hive Mind is the latest limited-time mode released by NetEase, though an end date has yet to be announced. Previously, NetEase released Clone Rumble during Season 1: Eternal Night Falls, and Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival back in Season 0: Dooms’ Rise.
