Tyson ‘TenZ‘ Ngo has officially announced his return to competitive VALORANT, joining Sentinels’ academy roster, Cubert Academy, as a last-minute substitute.
He’ll be filling in for Logan ‘skuba‘ Jenkins, who was recently transferred to NRG, until the organisation finds a replacement.
The VALORANT legend is set to make his VCT Challengers debut during the Stage 2 Playoffs, and will also stream his POV on his Twitch channel.
“Going to be subbing in playoffs for Cubert Academy, will be streaming my POV on my channels! Time to make my Challengers debut,” TenZ announced on X (Twitter).
TenZ will play his first match for Cubert Academy against Winthrop University on May 20th, in a best-of-three series. The matchup is expected to break viewership records for the Challengers League, with his fans extremely hyped for it.
The game will be streamed live on VCT North America’s official Twitch and YouTube channels, but viewers will also be able to tune in to the watch parties organized by multiple content creators.
The Return of Tenz
TenZ originally announced his retirement from professional VALORANT in 2024, staying with Sentinels as a content creator. He recently parted ways with the American organisation, but has now made a temporary return.
“I guess he’s back! When Sen needs a super sub there is only one man to call @TenZOfficial!” said Sentinels CEO Rob Moore, welcoming him back.
Cubert Academy will be starting its playoffs run in the Upper Quarterfinals of the double-elimination bracket. While the team has already qualified for Challengers North America Stage 3, it won’t earn any circuit points toward VCT Ascension Americas 2025 qualification.
This is because academy teams of VCT partnered organisations such as Sentinels are ineligible to qualify for Ascension tournaments. However, Cubert Academy are also protected from relegation, unlike other lower-ranking Challengers teams.
