Marvel Rivals Ignite Stage 1 playoffs have concluded in the EMEA region as Brr Brr Patapim are crowned the region’s champions, defeating Rad EU 4-2 in the Grand Finals.

This follows an upset loss from Virtus.pro, considered the favourites to win Marvel Rivals Ignite EMEA Stage 1, who were knocked out in the tournament after losing 2-3 to Brr Brr Patapim in the lower-bracket finals.

Following the conclusion of the Stage 1 EMEA Grand Finals, Brr Brr Patapim and Rad EU have qualified for the LAN Mid-Season finals, which will take place in Hangzhou later this year.

One of the biggest talking points is that despite some members being formerly signed to some organisation, Brr Brr Patapim is a non-organisation-backed team. With the champion title under its belt, the team have doubled down on its efforts to be signed.

In an interview after the EMEA Stage 1 Grand Finals, Roald ‘Tanuki’ Matthijs Rademakers, a Duelist player for Brr Brr Patapim, said: “When we play like this, we’re genuinely the best team in the world. If any organisations want this, you know, this is the moment. We’re champions, we’re going to stage one in China, it’s going to be amazing.”

Brr Brr Patapim achieved a revenge victory against Rad EU, losing to the organisation 2-3 during the Upper-Bracket Final. After being knocked down to the Lower-Bracket, Brr Brr Patapim defeated Virtus.pro, an organisation that has repeatedly come out on top in past events such as Rivals Fight Night.

This is the full grand finals breakdown of the match between Rad EU (RAD) and Brr Brr patapim (BBP):

  • Game 1: RAD 0-2 BBP – Krakoa, Domination
  • Game 2: RAD 1-2 BBP – Hall of Djalia, Convergence
  • Game 3: RAD 0-1 BBP – Yggdrasill Path, Convoy
  • Game 4: RAD 1-0 BBP – Spider-Islands, Convoy
  • Game 5: RAD 2-1 BBP – Helll’s Heaven, Domination
  • Game 6: RAD 2-3 BBP – Central Park, Convergence
  • End Result: RAD 2-4 BBP

The biggest surprise for fans online is Virtus.pro’s performance in the playoffs. After being hailed as one of the best teams in the scene due to not losing a single game up to Ignite, Virtus.pro will not be proceeding to the Mid-Season finals.

In a post online, Virtus.pro wrote: “Well, that’s definitely not what we wanted. Lost 2-3 against Brr Brr Patapim. We finished third place in the Marvel Rivals Ignite EMEA. Thank you for your support. We’ll come back stronger.”

It certainly took a lot of people by surprise, considering it’s near flawless record wining past events such as the EMEA Invitational. But Virtus.pro has suffered a number of losses throughout the tournament, from losing to Rad EU during the group stage, to now losing against Brr Brr Patapim twice in the playoffs.

During the finals livestream, Harry ‘LEGDAY’ Pollitt, commentator for Marvel Rivals Ignite EMEA, said: “I can’t wait to see how EMEA stacks up on the world stage. We’ve been grand standing a bit over the last couple of months, being like ‘yeah, think maybe Virtus.pro take this one.’ Okay, maybe not. Brr Brr Patapim and Rad EU are looking very strong right now.”
