ESL has revealed the teams that have received invitations to compete in the main event and the closed qualifiers of ESL Pro League Season 22.
The long-standing Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) tournament run by tournament organiser ESL takes place from September 27th to October 12th, 2025.
Based on the July Valve Regional Standings (VRS), eight teams have earned direct qualification into Stage 2 of the event, while 12 teams will compete in Stage 1.
In addition to the invites to the first two stages, 64 teams from Europe, the Americas, and Asia have received an invite to the closed qualifiers, with several notable names looking to earn one of four places in the 24-team tournament.
Notably, NAVI and Team Spirit are fielding their academy rosters in the European closed qualifiers for Pro League. If either one qualifies, the organisations will decide which roster will represent them during the main event.
In addition to revealing the teams that accepted invites to compete in ESL Pro League Season 22, ESL also shared the teams that declined an invite. The European sides of ECSTATIC, BetBoom Team, and HOTU turned down the invite along with Complexity, FURIA Esports Impact, FlyQuest, and Eruption.

ESL Pro League Season 22 Format
For Season 22 of Pro League, ESL has adjusted the format to adhere to the increased importance of the VRS. The event will be the first ESL-operated event to feature a third-place match.
The rest of the format is similar to one that was used at the Austin Major. Stage 1 will feature 16 teams competing in best-of-three, Swiss system matches, with the top eight advancing to Stage 2.
Stage 2 will repeat the process, with the top eight moving on to the Playoffs, where all matches, except the Grand Final, will use a best-of-three series to determine the winner. The Grand Final will use a best-of-five series.
