Tencent has revealed the initial esports roadmap for VALORANT Mobile during the China’s fourth National Competition Finals for the game’s PC version.
Operated by Teng Jing (TJ) Sports, a joint venture between Tencent and Riot Games, China will host VALORANT Mobile’s first national circuit.
Announced during the Season 4 Finals for the regional competition, developers working on VALORANT Mobile revealed a nationwide ‘Show Cup’, which will take place until September.
Upon the conclusion of the Show Cup, TJ Sports will launch the inaugural VALORANT Mobile China National Circuit in the fourth quarter of 2025. The circuit will use the same format as PC VALORANT tournaments that operate across the world.
Notably, TJ Sports didn’t mention the creation of a professional league for VALORANT Mobile, which would act as an equivalent to the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT). Despite this, the company appears intent on establishing an ecosystem in the region.
In addition to the formation of the National Circuit, VALORANT Mobile in China will feature a dedicated in-game tournament centre, where teams and players can register and participate in events.
China has led the way with the rollout of VALORANT Mobile. In June, the country hosted a closed beta, allowing players an opportunity to test the title before its official launch. The official launch in China is expected to take place in 2025, but Riot Games has yet to reveal a concrete release date.
Moreover, there is no date surrounding when the game would be available for regions outside of China.
The Rise Of Mobile Esports
VALORANT is the latest FPS title to expand its esports efforts onto mobile devices. Over the years, the likes of PUBG and Call of Duty have exported titles from PC and console and optimised them for mobile devices.
Both have managed to build successful ecosystems with regular opportunities for players to qualify for international tournaments and their world championships.
