Team Falcons has won the Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS) Mid-Season Championships, completing a swift shift in form after qualifying through the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ).

Taking place during Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC) this year, the team defeated Al Qadsiah with a landslide 4-0 victory.

Team Falcons walks away from the Overwatch 2 competition with $400,000 (~£312,000) in winnings, in addition to 1000 club points for the overall EWC event. Because of its qualification through the LCQ, the organisation has earned the Jafonso Award.

Named after João ‘Jafonso’ Vasconcelos, who won last year’s EA SPORTS FC tournament after advancing through LCQ, the award was created to celebrate teams that achieve a similar feat.

How Team Falcons Won OWCS Mid-Season Championship

Team Falcons qualified through the Group Stage with a 2-0 win/loss ratio and a 5-2 map win/loss, topping its group as it entered the Playoffs.

It began the Quarter-Finals with a narrow 3-2 win against Geekay Esports on August 2nd, dominating on maps such as New Junk City while struggling in Circuit Royal.

In the Semi-Finals the following day, Team Falcons defeated T1 3-1, gaining an early lead in the first two rounds before earning a landslide win in Colosseo during round four.

Al Qadsiah, a team that also recorded impressive performances so far in the tournament, became the team’s final opponent in the Grand Finals. However, the match-up would prove to be Team Falcons’ strongest series of the entire tournament, claiming a 4-0 victory.

Here are the results from the Grand Finals between AL Qadsiah (QAD) and Team Falcons (Falcons):

  • Round one: Falcons 2-0 QAD, Lijang Tower – Control.
  • Round two: Falcons 1-0 QAD, Esperança – Push.
  • Round three: Falcons 3-1 QAD, New Junk City – Flashpoint.
  • Round four: Falcons 1-0 QAD, Circuit Royal – Escort.
  • End Score: Falcons 4-0 QAD.

Team Falcons’ Damage player, Kim ‘Proper’ Dong-hyun, was also awarded the Sony Tournament MVP for the 2025 OWCS Mid-Season Championship, receiving an additional $10,000.
