The Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) has revealed the full roadmap for the sixth edition of the battle royale title’s esports circuit.
ALGS Year 6 features three LAN events taking place across the world, along with $7m (~£5.2m) in prize money up for grabs throughout the season.
ALGS’ New Roadmap
ALGS Year 6 begins with four weekends of online open qualifiers, known as the ALGS Online Open. Running throughout February and March, the winners of each regional qualifier will secure direct qualification to Pro League Split 1 starting on April 4th.
The Split 1 Playoffs will take place from July 7th to 11th as part of the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Teams from across the world will compete for its $2m (~£1.4m) prize pool and Championship Points that determine which teams earn a place at the season-ending ALGS Championship.
Split 2 Playoffs head to the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, from October 29th to November 1st, with another $2m on the line and the final chance for teams to earn Championship Points. The last-chance qualifier returns for Year 6, giving Challenger Circuit and Pro League teams one last shot to qualify for the ALGS Championship, which returns to Sapporo, Japan, for a third consecutive year.
“This roadmap clearly reflects that we’re investing in the long-term future of the ALGS,” said Monica Dinsmore, Head of Esports at EA. “By expanding competition, increasing prizing, and showing up in key regions around the world, we’re building an ecosystem that brings players and fans closer together.”
ALGS Rostermania Rules Refreshed
Alongside revealing the prize pools and event locations, the ALGS will introduce a transfer window, aiming to provide further stability for fans and esports organisations competing.
Each split features a single window that opens after Match Day 6. The ALGS states that the move aims to ‘promote greater roster stability and provide fans with clearer, more consistent team identities.’
In addition to the transfer window, the ALGS has added a minimum match requirement for players to earn eligibility to score Championship Points. Players must compete in 12 Pro League matches for their points to count towards the total for a team.
Outside of the Pro League, the Challenger Circuit returns to offer aspiring players a chance to earn a place in the highest tier of Apex Legends esports. Winners from online Split 1 events earn a direct spot in the Pro League Qualifier for Split 2. After the Split 1 Pro League, top Challengers Circuit teams will compete against the bottom eight Pro League sides in the Pro League Qualifier.
