Counter-Strike 2 skin marketplace Skinport has acquired the assets of fellow skin marketplace SkinBid, following the latter’s declaration of bankruptcy in November 2025.

As a result of the deal, Skinport plans to relaunch SkinBid as a marketplace that fully complies with EU regulations and offers consumer protection.

Announced on January 12th, the acquisition comes after SkinBid declared bankruptcy after four years of operation. Owned by esports agency Ulti Agency and popular CS2 content creator Mark ‘ohnePixel‘ Zimmermann, the platform had become one of the most popular skin trading sites in the world.

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. Ahead of the relaunch, SkinBid has advised players looking to trade skins to visit Skinport’s website.

“Our vision is to launch SkinBid as a fully EU-compliant peer-to-peer marketplace, as most existing P2P options operate outside the EU and do not offer full EU-level compliance and consumer protection,” SkinBid stated on X (Twitter). “Stay tuned for updates as we work towards building the world’s first fully EU-compliant P2P marketplace for CS2 skins.”

SkinBid’s bankruptcy declaration arrived a month after the introduction of a Trade-up contract in Counter-Strike 2, enabling players to exchange five Covert skins for a chance to earn a knife or a pair of gloves. The update wiped over $1.75bn (~£1.2bn) from the CS2 skin market, causing several high-value items to decrease in value.

SkinBid’s New Chapter

While the initial closure of SkinBid was a blow for players looking for a safe and secure platform to trade skins with other users, the intention to relaunch the marketplace that fully complies with European regulations is a significant step towards providing a new level of safety and security.

Counter-Strike 2’s skin economy remains an integral part of the esports ecosystem, with several esports organisations partnering with a variety of platforms. In October 2025, Skin.Land joined forces with Team Vitality as the organisation’s official skin partner.
