Epic Games hires Christopher Scroggins as Esports Coordinator

Game developer and publisher Epic Games has named Christopher Scroggins as its new Esports Coordinator.

In the role, Scroggins will support Epic Games’ B2B strategy and its existing relationships with third-party collaborators.

Scroggins joins Epic Games following a six-year tenure as the CEO and co-founder of Esports Development and Growth Enterprise (EDGE), a company assisting non-endemic companies and educational establishments in integrating esports into their operations. As a result of his move, EDGE co-founder Zach Harrington will lead the company’s day-to-day operations.

The arrival of Scroggins as Epic Games’ Esports Coordinator coincides with its recent third-party esports partnerships. In December 2025, it signed a multi-year deal with the Esports World Cup Foundation, resulting in Fortnite and Rocket League appearing at this year’s multi-title event.

“I’m excited to share that I’ve recently joined Epic Games as Esports Coordinator,” wrote Scroggins on LinkedIn. “I’m looking forward to learning from an incredible team and gaining a broader perspective on esports and gaming at a global scale.”

In addition to its titles appearing at the Esports World Cup, Epic Games also renewed its existing deal with tournament organiser BLAST. As a result, the organiser will continue operating the Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS), which features a $10m (~£7.2m) prize pool.

Epic Games In 2026

2026 is shaping up to be a busy year for Epic Games as it continues to support a range of esports initiatives across its most popular titles.

Alongside the FNCS, it invested a further $1m (~£724,830) into the Fortnite Mobile Series, a solo mobile tournament using the title’s popular Blitz Royale game mode. Elsewhere, the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) sees teams from across the world competing for a share of $6.1m (~£4.4m) across online and LAN events taking place throughout the year.

With Scroggins’ experience in working with non-endemic brands entering the esports space, Epic Games could be looking to expand its competitive ecosystems through similar collaborations.
