Riot Games has announced Harbor buffs and Reyna nerfs ahead of the release of VALORANT patch 12.02.

The update is scheduled to go live on February 3rd; however, it is unclear when these changes will be implemented in the VCT circuit.

Harbor received a major rework in patch 11.10; however, his pick rate didn’t spike as Riot Games had hoped. As a result, the developers gave the controller a minor buff in patch 12.00 as well. However, Harbor’s pick rate is still nonexistent on almost all maps so far in VCT 2026 across all regions.

With the aim of bringing Harbor back into the meta, the following buffs will be introduced with VALORANT patch 12.02:

  • Cove (E)
    • Cooldown decreased 40s >> 30s
    • Smoke duration increased from 15s >>> 19.25s
    • Health increased from 500 to 680
    • Harbor now re-equips his gun faster after activating Cove
  • High Tide (Q)
    • Wall height increases 6m >> 8m
    • Max wall length increased from 50m to 60m
  • Storm Surge (C)
    • Storm Surge now plays audio in world if enemies are hit
  • Reckoning (X)
    • Wave speed increased by 25%
    • Can now re-use the ultimate to stop it in place for 7s.

Reyna, on the other hand, has consistently been the most-picked duelist in VALORANT’s Ranked mode, especially after the agent’s Dismiss (E) and Empress (X) received buffs in patch 8.11

This trend has continued despite Riot making minor nerfs to Reyna in patch 11.08 as part of a broader meta overhaul. Hence, to further balance the duelist in Ranked, here are the planned nerfs:

  • Soul Orbs (Passive)
    • Duration in world decreased from 4s >> 3s
  • Devour (Q)
    • Overheal applied by Devour is now temporary and lasts 10s
    • Healing applied while in Empress is still permanent
  • Empress (X)
    • Ult points increased 6 >> 7

How Will VALORANT Patch 12.02 Affect Meta?

The Reyna balance changes are not expected to affect the Ranked meta in VALORANT. However, newly introduced Harbor buffs have the potential to bring back the Harbor and Viper meta on maps such as Breeze and Bind.

Especially with the current double duelist meta, which combines the aggression of Waylay and Yoru, teams can use Harbor to secure some early kills in the round to get an upper hand over the opponents.

That said, Harbor used to be highly picked on Icebox, which is not a part of the competitive map pool at the moment.
