North American collegiate esports platform PlayVS has announced a partnership with Krafton to launch PUBG College Royale.
This is the first official PUBG college tournament in the region and will be open to students across the United States and Canada.
Integrated into the PlayVS College League ecosystem, PUBG College Royale will begin on March 15th, awarding the best performers a portion of its $15,000 (~£11,128) scholarship pool, ASUS ROG gear, and more.
“The PUBG College Royale opens the door for student players to compete in an organised, competitive environment while exploring a potential first step on their path to the professional stage,” said Atila Yesildag, Director of West Esports at KRAFTON.
“We’re excited to expand our competitive ecosystem and empower aspiring players to turn their passion into opportunity.”
Registrations for the event are live for verified college students, and participants will begin their journey in the Open Qualifiers. There will be a total of three Open Qualifiers held on March 15th, March 22nd, and March 29th.
The goal will be to earn points during the Open Qualifiers. The top 16 teams with the highest scores will advance to the Finals on April 12th.
Each Open Qualifier will feature five games, while the Finals will consist of six matches. Moreover, the Finals will be streamed live on PUBG’s official Twitch channel.
“We are thrilled to partner with KRAFTON to bring such an iconic title to the collegiate stage,” said Curtis Winger, Senior Manager of Live Operations at PlayVS.
“PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS carries a significant legacy as a pioneer of the battle royale genre, and integrating it into the PlayVS College League aligns perfectly with our goal of providing more diverse competitive opportunities for students. We look forward to seeing the talent and strategy North American student-athletes bring to the circuit.”
PlayVS Continues to Expand its Collegiate Esports Ecosystem
PlayVS launched the College League in July 2025 with the aim of helping college students in North America pursue careers in esports. Alongside PUBG, other popular esports titles that are part of the PlayVS College League include League of Legends, Marvel Rivals, VALORANT, Overwatch, and more.
PlayVS also runs multiple scholastic leagues that cater to middle and high school students. In 2025, the organisation joined hands with The Pokémon Company to include Pokémon UNITE in the league.
PlayVS has also acquired youth and scholastic esports platform Vanta Esports in order to expand its reach to more students. Most recently, the brand collaborated with decentralised cloud provider Theta Labs to launch an AI agent for the PlayVS College League.
