Metaverse platform The Sandbox has confirmed that Season 7 will launch on February 25th, introducing 650,000 SAND in player rewards alongside a major accessibility update.
The platform stated that, for the first time, users will be able to jump into selected experiences directly from their browser with no download required.
Browser Access and Creator Content Take Centre Stage
The new season will feature 32 unique experiences, with more than half built by creators. Players who secure a Season 7 Premium Pass before launch will unlock exclusive rewards and earn a share of the 650,000 SAND prize pool, currently valued at around $52,000.
The Sandbox explained that Season 7 is focused on lowering entry barriers at a time when crypto gaming faces retention challenges.
Notably, users will be able to access select games without installing large files or even creating an account, a move the company believes will significantly improve onboarding.
Robby Yung, CEO of The Sandbox and Animoca Brands, stated to Decrypt that accessibility sits at the core of the rollout. He added that earlier technical infrastructure slowed adoption and admitted that mandatory downloads discouraged new users.
According to Yung, browser-level access allows players to engage instantly, which he believes will make a measurable difference, especially among newcomers.
Season 7 Adds 20+ Creator Experiences, but Engagement Comes First
According to the team, Season 7 will include at least 20 creator-built experiences, alongside activations tied to established names such as Atari, Black Mirror, Steve Aoki, The Terminator, and the Bruce Lee Estate.
Meanwhile, more than 50% of the season’s content comes directly from creators, a milestone Yung described as overdue. Yung noted that engagement leading to repeat play is the north star metric, adding that revenue and token performance are secondary outcomes.
Community Tools and Owner Rewards Expand Engagement
Earlier this month, The Sandbox rolled out new creator tools aimed at improving gameplay depth. On February 11th, the team introduced a rotation puzzle system that lets builders add interactive elements that turn 90 degrees to open doors, reveal hidden paths, or trigger in-game features.
The studio said these toggle-style mechanics are designed to add more layered challenges and enhance user-generated experiences.
