Ubisoft has revealed that Joshua Mills has been appointed as the new Creative Director of the tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege X.
The announcement follows Alexander Karpazis confirming that he will be stepping away from the role after eight years, sharing that the 2026 Six Invitational will be his last one as Creative Director.
In a blog post online, Karpazis wrote: “I would like to thank the Siege team for trusting me with the responsibilities of Creative Director and allowing me the privilege to represent their hard work season after season.
“To the Siege community, thank you for giving me a chance and for sharing your vision and love of the game with me. I will see you all at the Six Invitationals.”
Karpazis added that he is leaving the Creative Director role to pursue “new challenges within Ubisoft”, though he has yet to reveal details on what the next step of his career entails.
The former creative director also leaves Rainbow Six Siege X as the game enters Year 11, with the reveal panel scheduled to take place on February 15th, the final day of the Six Invitational.
Mills also released a statement in the blog post, thanking Karpazis for his “guidance” in his first public message as the official Creative Director of the game.
He has been working for Ubisoft Montreal for a long time, dating back to 2015 as a Senior Level Designer for Watchdogs 2. For Rainbow Six Siege X, Mills has held several leadership positions, including Associate Game Director from 2022 to 2024 and Game Director from 2024 to late 2025.
“Siege has been part of my life for the past decade,” Mills wrote. “But my love for all things Rainbow begins well before that. I have always been drawn to the high-stakes heroics of the franchise, and with my 4+ years on Siege to-date it’s been a dream to have become part of its history.”
Six Invitational 2026
The shift in leadership comes at a crucial point in Rainbow Six Siege X esports as all eyes are on the Six Invitational 2026, the crowning event of the season.
The tournament is already underway and is scheduled to finish with the Grand Finals on February 15th. The top 20 teams from across the globe have begun their championship run in the effort to claim the lions share of a $3m (~£2.1m) prize pool.
