Schalke04 Esports yesterday announced that that they would run a five day event to cherry pick the best players to then compete at the GEFORCE Cup as Schalke04’s pre-season League of Legends roster.

Tim Reichert, Head of Esport at Schalke 04 announced: By complementing the Scouting Days, we maintain our solid foundation of youth development. Therefore, we use our experience and resources in the identical way to our traditional sports. Looking at the amount of important factors involved in successful, long-lasting teamwork; one of our top priorities has always been to not only reach out to professional players but also to the uncut diamonds in the scene.”

The event will be held in Gelsenkirchen’s Veltins Arena. The application deadline is 18 October, and players must have reached Master Division in League of Legends to be eligible to apply. Those successfully invited to participate will have travel and accommodation costs covered by the esports club – with global participation encouraged.

The press release encourages esports veterans and aspiring amateurs to get involved. Schalke04 will then be able to cherry pick the five players that they believe will compliment each other best and create a competitive roster.

Esports Insider: The depth of backroom staff in the esports setup continues to grow. If we go back a couple of years there wasn’t even coaches and managers. Now to add to nutritionists, psychologists (etc) we have scouting setups within esports. Although conventionally you can tell a great player from their online performance, with the lack of replays in League it will give the Schalke staff a first hand chance to view and potentially discover some fantastic new talent in the scene. We can’t wait to see how this plays out.

As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
