ESL invests in Nazara Technologies to boost Indian esports scene

Just a couple of weeks after acquiring NODWIN Gamingit’s been announced that Nazara Technologies has been invested in by esports giant, ESL.

Discussing the investment, Ralf Reichert, Co-founder and CEO, ESL said: “Our goal is to bring esports to the players and fans all around the world. We believe that Nazara, one of the leading mobile games companies will help us in expanding our ESL operations through strategic local partnerships.”

ESL has also signed a license agreement with NODWIN Gaming, gifting the Indian company exclusive licensing rights for the ESL system and community platform for the next five years. This will allow NODWIN to organise and operate ESL competitions in India.

Manish Agarwal, CEO, Nazara Technologies also discussed the partnership: “We at Nazara welcome ESL to Nazara’s family of shareholders and look forward to partner with ESL to bring global games to India and other emerging markets.”

“We believe that the partnership with ESL and NODWIN Gaming, will enable us to leverage the strength of global experience of ESL, the execution experience of NODWIN Gaming and on ground networks of Nazara across different countries in emerging markets,” Agarwal continued.

Nazara Technologies recently filed DRHP and received an investment from IIFL Asset Management recently, and is quickly building up a network of esports companies to help develop and grow the Indian esports scene. The company is currently invested in mobile gaming companies NextWave MultiMedia, Mastermind Sports, Moon Labs and HalaPlay. The investment from ESL is yet another step in the right direction.
