Ubisoft has announced that HyperX is sponsoring the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six 2018 Majors. The gaming equipment giant will be the official headset partner for two of the biggest esports tournaments for Rainbow Six in 2018.

Rainbow Six Masters

Geoffroy Sardin, Vice President Sales & Marketing Ubisoft EMEA, said the following about the announcement: “We are pleased to work alongside HyperX for the biggest Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six esports events this year. This partnership shows the strong relationship built with HyperX since the early days of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege and the growing interest into the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six esports scene and related competitions.”

Annie L. Gerard, HyperX Global Strategic Marketing also commented on the newfound sponsorship. “HyperX is pleased to partner with Ubisoft for the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six 2018 Majors. Competitors will playing at the highest level as they will be equipped with HyperX Cloud Revolver headsets, known for its wide soundstage and audio clarity. We look forward to being a part of the RB6 community and supporting its growth.”

The esports scene for Rainbow Six in 2018, 2019, and 2020 will undergo a new format, too. Revising the formula, two Major events have been devised for Rainbow Six Siege. Six Invitational will take place every February, and the Six Major will be held in August. The former will have a prize pool of $500,000 (£360,095), while the latter will have $350,000 (£252,042) up for grabs. Both of the aforementioned events will include 16 teams from all round the world, and will wear headsets provided by HyperX.

Esports Insider says: Rainbow Six Siege is a growing esport and developments like this should, in theory, help to boost it in popularity. Setting up a three year plan adds structure to the scene, giving potential competitors goals to aim towards – it seems like a good move.
