After picking up a FIFA player, and creating “Esports History” by having their player face off against one of Wolfsburg’s, Sporting CP have once again entered the space by launching a CS:GO tournament. This will feature a €2,000 total prize pool.

Tournament Operator ChallengeMe will host the tournament series.

It will be the first in a series of tournaments from the football club, which will be run in partnership with tournament operator ChallengeMe. The qualifiers for the tournament will be split in two, each being set for 128 teams. The winning teams of each qualifier will pick up a €150 (£134) prize.

The first qualifier is set for the 22nd October, with the second at some point in November. The top four teams from each qualifier will head into the tournament finals, where €1,750 will be up for grabs, which will take place in December. The tournament is aimed at amateur teams in Europe only, so those not taking part in professional leagues will be the ones getting a shot in the tournament.

More information is available on Sporting’s website, here, which includes full prize breakdowns and details.

Esports Insider says: The first CS:GO esports tournament to be run by a football team is big news and with it being the first of many, it’s something to look forward to. This could also show an indication that the club may be looking into picking up a CS:GO team in the near future – making it the first to do so this for this title.

ESI Ranking System
We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
