HER Galaxy, a female-focused grassroots esports initiative from Dubai-based organisation Galaxy Racer, has been selected for the Trailblazer Venture Studio accelerator programme.
Backed by entities such as Billie Jean King Enterprises and the Los Angeles Dodgers, the studio focuses on the future of women in sports and esports.
Founded in March 2022, the goal of the studio is to provide selected companies with ‘unmatched industry access’ to companies that are focusing on prioritising women leaders, players and fans. By doing so, the programme aims to accelerate business growth while ‘levelling the playing field’ regarding women’s leadership and participation in esports and sports.
HER Galaxy is one of the first nine firms selected to be part of the studio. Also founded in March, the brand aims to create an inclusive ecosystem for female-identifying gamers in the North American market. In addition, the brand will provide partnered teams with funds to pay player and staff salaries alongside travel expenses to events.
In addition, the brand intends to host and operate its first female-only esports event across a range of unannounced titles.
The Trailblazer Venture Studio is the third initiative created by Elysian Park Ventures, the LA Dodgers and R/GA Ventures. The three parties joined forces to launch the LA Dodgers Accelerator, a sports technology accelerator programme to assist emerging companies.
Akemi Sue Fisher, CEO of Galaxy Racer North America and HER Galaxy, spoke on joining the initiative: “It’s time to change the game and build a more inclusive space for women in the gaming community.
“The amount of women participating in esports does not come close to representing the amount of women gamers in the world, so we want to take major steps to change that narrative. We will soon announce the first major event for HER Galaxy’s massive prize pools and opportunity for women to show off what they can do.”
